This is my happy place, being in the water and swimming. I concentrate on my breath and relax into each stroke just feeling my water, breathing and being in the moment.

When I was at school I could not swim 50 meters.  I would always pretend to be sick when swimming carnivals were on. At the age of 28 I taught myself to swim at Boy Charlton pool. I started with 1 lap, then 4 laps and eventually swam 30 laps.

This taught me a lot that I could achieve something that was difficult with practise and application. I did not say to myself I have never been able to swim therefore I cannot swim.
