Lucy Kemp is a counsellor who specialises in helping women through all aspects of the journey to motherhood – undergoing fertility treatment, experiencing miscarriage, coping with the anxiety and trauma that can be associated with becoming a mother.
After working as a lawyer for many years, Lucy decided to pursue her interest in women’s mental and emotional health by undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. She has also completed specialist training in bereavement counselling to enhance her work with women who have suffered pregnancy loss and infertility.
Undergoing fertility treatment and suffering pregnancy loss can result in a wide range of feelings and emotions – sadness, anger, frustration, anxiety. A difficult or even traumatic birth experience, sleep deprivation, loss of identity, or feeling like a “failure” when breastfeeding and settling a baby do not happen easily are just some of the very normal issues for a new mother that can be difficult to talk about and can create anxiety. Having an opportunity to talk to someone about your feelings and emotions in a safe and supportive environment can normalise the experience.
Lucy is passionate about supporting women through the emotional roller coaster of fertility challenges, birth and the often challenging journey to become a mother.
